AUSTIN, TEXAS (August, 2007) – Texas Culinary Academy (TCA) and the Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce (TACC) will co-sponsor the 2007 Asia Food Fest on September 6 – 8. This second annual event to be held at the Texas Culinary Academy Campus, in Austin, will highlight the diverse cultures and cuisines of Austin’s Asian community.
“We are proud to be a part of this event that celebrates the incredibly rich worlds of Asian cuisine.” said TCA Executive Chef William McKenna.
The festival kicks off on Thursday with a “Meet the Chef” reception and silent auction at Satay Restaurant. The reception starts at 5:00 p.m. and is priced at $35 per person.
On Friday, beginning at 9:00 a.m., the public is invited to participate in several cooking classes, including:
Classes are $15 each, per person, or $55 for the series.
Also on Friday, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., TCA and community chefs will present a five course “Asian Banquet with a French Twist” in TCA’s Ventana Restaurant. The dinner event, priced at $70 per person, will feature Asian traditions and techniques from Le Cordon Bleu, the world’s oldest and largest provider of culinary education. Each course will be paired with complimentary wines.
The event continues on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. with an Asian marketplace. Guests can watch amateur and professional culinary teams go head-to-head in an “Iron Chef Contest” at Texas Culinary Academy. The contestants will be judged by local food experts, media representatives and Central Texas celebrity chefs.
